CIO at Midtown Athletic Clubs
I turn around dysfunctional IT departments and build on successful ones. My comprehensive approach affects:
People--finding the right skill sets, motivating and improving them
Technology--finding cost-effective infrastructure and applications
Fixing/re-engineering broken processes
Plus, I communicate complex technical issues to non-technical executives and employees.
The President of Midtown Athletic Clubs hired me, as CIO, to turn around a failing IT Department with daily network and application instability and a demoralized staff. I developed a 5-year technology roadmap to address instability, drive efficiencies, and improve employee engagement.
I led upgrade of all infrastructure so it could handle the load on the systems; increasing uptime by 200%. Replaced the core ERP system and implemented HCM components; cut operating expenses by $1.5M per year.
Berlin Packaging also hired me to fix IT disasters. The ERP failed every month end, limiting sales growth and exasperating staff.
I assessed our equipment and negotiated with vendors to purchase a upgraded infrastructure at an extreme discount that eliminated system outages and enabled us to acquire 4 international companies. With a stable infrastructure, we focused on rewriting poorly-performing code, laying a solid foundation for a web-based reporting system. This allowed management to look at daily reports instead of month end, backward-looking reports.
